We fill gaps in our community's existing systems of support to ensure no one gets left behind, ignored, or underserved.
Secretary Sangvai visited the Love and Respect Community for Recovery and Wellness, which sponsors a crisis and substance use counseling program called Hope4NC. He then walked down the street to meet with members of the group Caja Solidaria, which provides food to Medicaid recipients as part of a program called the Healthy Opportunities Pilot.

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Love and Respect Community for Recovery and Wellness held its grand opening Friday in Hendersonville. It is the city's first help center to be run and managed by peers.
Each person who works for the nonprofit has dealt with substance use and/or mental health issues.
Executive director Lexie Wilkins said the organization hopes the workers' real-life experiences will encourage people to seek help.
"When I sit with an individual and look them in the face and tell them that I've been there, right there where they were, we like to call it they get a hope shot," Wilkins said. "I'm tangible proof, living tangible proof that we do recover and we can recover."
RECOVERY COMMUNITY CENTER: NEW RESOURCE OPENS FOR PEOPLE BATTLING ADDICTION
The Love and Respect center welcomes all people in all stages of recovery. But nonprofit officials said they will specifically be reaching out to Black, Indigenous and people of color, as they are traditionally underserved.
Let's talk about fentanyl test strips.
These tests are a low-cost method of helping prevent drug overdoses and reducing harm. FTS are small strips of paper that can detect the presence of fentanyl in all different kinds of drugs.
End Overdose has a website that you can take a free training on how to administer Naloxone, receive a free dose of naloxone and buy fentanyl test strips.
We also have fentanyl test strips in our Amazon Wishlist, available to purchase and send right to the center as a donation.
Stay safe and don't leave before the miracle happens.
We have Narcan available at the center. Narcan is a overdose reversal drug that saves many lives every year.
Don’t leave before the miracle happens. We have to be alive in order to recover.

A Quick Guide to Understanding substance Misuse.
Addiction is a complicated disease. The causes are numerous and oftentimes the symptoms
can be confusing. There is very rarely a single reason for addiction, and it often shows itself in a
number of different forms. If you or one of your loved ones suffers from substance abuse
disorder, it can be quite confusing. When addiction enters your personal life, it can look quite
different than it does on TV and in books.
