• “Love and Respect has become a welcoming place where I can come and vent when I am having trouble with my mental health. I stop by Love and Respect before I go to work to receive extra emotional support. I look forward to my one on one peer sessions every week.”

    - Phillip Y

  • “Someone mentioned Love and Respect to me when I first had the desire to get clean. I came in. I now have 30 days clean and recommend love and respect to everyone I cross paths with. If I didn’t have Love and Respect and Mindy, I don’t think I would have reached my 30 day clean milestone.”

    -Karen S

  • “I found out about Love and Respect from Lexie Wilkins. He told me about it and told me his story and it made me think “wow this is something real!”. Love and Respect is different from other treatments. They treat addicts differently. I’ve been using it since I was 9 and I have a week and a half clean today. You can go in there and they won't try and beat you clean, they will talk to you and not pressure you and they will let you recover on your own terms. I come over here because it's quiet and you can come talk to people and not be talked to. Everytime I come in here, the staff is giving- giving of their time and their resources.”

    -John

  • “I have the utmost love and respect for love and respect. It’s a place where I feel warm and welcome anytime of the day and I'm always greeted with a big smile. Everyone there has been so helpful in many different areas of my recovery and helped me to take a proactive approach to my journey, which is a huge deal for me personally. I have shared this resource with a ton of people and I feel like it could help a lot of different people in a lot of different ways and I know that anyone who comes here will feel comfortable.”

    -Liberty

  • “Love and Respect is a safe place, the staff is very courteous and helpful, it feels like a family atmosphere. Everyone is loving and encouraging. Mindy, Jen and Alivea encourage us greatly.”

    -David Z

  • “Love and respect is so wonderful. I feel so much better when I come in here than I would if I didn’t come. I love it. I love what Love and Respect stands for and when I come in here I get respect and give respect. The staff helps as much as they possibly can. When I came in I was at my wits end and as soon as Alivea made a connection for me, everything has fallen into place since. I have a roof over my head now, my husband has a job, and we have gas in our car.”

    -Ellen

  • “I don’t come in a lot but my uncle told me about Love and Respect and I do come over to have someone to talk to and I’ve only started using drugs maybe a year ago and coming in here helps me not want to get high. Alivea and Jen have helped with having items for my puppies and us getting food.”

    -Virginia

  • “I have received a lot, a tent and hammock and they are also very understanding and actually care about us. They support us and have helped us with food and things I need. I love y’all and want to thank you for all the support you have given me. Y’all have opened your doors and hearts, even when you didn't have to. Thank y’all, you are my angels, our angels.

    - Chrissy

  • “I study academics when in class at Blue Ridge Community. I get counsel here at Love & Respect and suppress my substance abuse with fellowship and it feels wholesome. It’s all about the people or group at moments. Everybody ain’t for everybody, you have to be doing the same things. Love and Respect for me is a place of purpose when filled with authentic and real people or individuals who seek bare necessities for themselves in life and only intervene with their peers naturally when heading in that same direction. I like serious people. I take life serious, so should the people that are your peers.”

    - Lavell

  • “I received a great deal of respect, honor and love but most of all Love & Respect but most of all Love and Respect and Family pres, they help me when I need them most. I thank Family Preservation and Love and Respect for my sobriety and understanding that there is a better path then the one I was walking in. They do try their best for us to maintain our sobriety and I do try and by every chance I get just to say hi, their support is awesome.”

    -Fabian

  • “I came in here to get bus passes, I wasn't thinking about anything else, just looking for stuff. Alivea got to talking and told me I could use the computer to set up an email account and sit down for a bit. It was nice and clean - a big difference from where I was. Then I came in to use the phone and I talked to Alivea about some things that were going on in my life. I told them I was thinking about going to treatment but that I wasn’t sure that program would be good for me. Alivea told me they could call someone that would come out and find me treatment. They said it could take a few days - I was hoping it would but they came immediately and asked me if I was ready to go. If it weren’t for Love and Respect, I probably wouldn’t be here right now. I now have 120 days clean and sober and am living in Thanos Oxford House right off of Haywood Road.”

    -Richard Dudley

  • “The people here have been nothing but helpful, understanding, personable, and well informed. I very much enjoy my visits. The resources they have been able to connect me to, in my particular case, have been life saving. I’d recommend this place to anyone, even if they aren’t on the streets and desperate, they’d still gain something from coming here, they would still meet some people who understand what the struggle is like. They’ve been extremely understanding about my PTSD, DID, Autism and amnesia. One of the main things I’ve been helped with is my amnesia - since my amnesia is terrible and I forget all the things, all the people and all the places. Staff reminded me of things that I was forgetting that were vital. I had been living in my car since January of 2022, it is now November of 2023. There have been times that I thought I would freeze to death or die of heat stroke, times I thought I would be killed by the locals and times where I had been hospitalized because I wanted to end my life. But now I am awaiting placement for a care facility that will keep me for a month and a half and then I will be placed in a long term facility. Coming here has helped a lot with the intensity of it all.”

  • "I receive one on one support with Becky Ayers - Journaling group, Recovery Movies, Supportive Stretching. When I first started coming here I was down on life, was really ready to give up and just didn't want to do another day. Then a friend told me to go to Love and Respect. So I came in and met the people that works here but this one lady stood out to me. Her name is Becky and we got to talking and now I love myself. I can't wait to wake up. She makes me want to live again. I thank (God) for these people. They go out of their way to help people in any way that we need help. I come here every day and I never feel alone."

    • Susan S

  • “My name is Max, I got introduced to Love and Respect through friends. The ladies here have done everything they could to help me, I’m proud of the work they do and the work they put into it. I asked for help to get into rehab and it was so soon, it was almost immediately. Bless this place. I hope more people come and get the Love and Respect they give you. They’re amazing people. They have a good rapport with the parole board and the parole board also helps out. I love you guys and can’t say enough good things about this place.”
